Our History

Brooklyn Springs is more than just a name. It's a story brought back to life.

Originally known as Golden Valley, this 932-acre farm sits in the heart of Brungle Creek Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and wide open pastures. In 2011, I purchased the property and gave it a fresh start, renaming it Brooklyn Springs to reflect the new chapter ahead.

But the story begins well before that. This land was once owned by my great-great-grandfather, Harry French. In the early 1900s, Harry owned much of the surrounding area, including Bullawayarra, the family farm my father still works today, at 80 years old. In 1914, a devastating drought struck. Heavily mortgaged, Harry lost the land to the Webb family.

Nearly 100 years later, I had the chance to buy it back, this time from the Webb family. In doing so, I felt like I was reclaiming a part of our family’s history and planting new roots for the future.

Our Farm

Brooklyn Springs is a working beef farm but it’s also a living, breathing ecosystem. We operate using regenerative agriculture, a modern farming approach that rebuilds soil health, promotes biodiversity and strengthens the entire landscape.

Our cattle and horses are rotationally grazed, mostly as one mob, allowing our pastures the time they need to recover between grazes. This not only improves productivity but also helps capture carbon from the atmosphere, a small but meaningful step in caring for our planet.

In the early years, we ran both sheep and cattle, but after facing a severe drought and the demands of working the land solo, I transitioned away from sheep farming in early 2024. This shift allowed more time to focus on new possibilities, ones that would invite others to share in the beauty and purpose of this land.

Animal welfare and land stewardship are always at the heart of what I do.

Your Experience

Brooklyn Springs is more than a place to stay, it’s a place to slow down.

Surrounded by sweeping valley views and wide open skies, the property invites you to take a deep breath, switch off and reconnect with what matters most.

Our cosy cabin was created as a peaceful escape for couples looking to step away from busy lives and spend time together in nature.

Beyond the cabin, Brooklyn Springs offers a range of unique experiences:

  • Mindset retreats for rest, reflection and personal growth

  • Horse-riding adventures through scenic landscapes (experienced riders only)

Brooklyn Springs has been shaped by generations of family, resilience and care for the land. We hope every guest feels that connection when they visit.
