A Genuine Brooklyn Springs
Adventure
One day of breathtaking high country scenery, one day of cattle work — this is a genuine Brooklyn Springs adventure, not a lesson.
This ride is best suited to confident, experienced riders comfortable in the saddle for extended periods (4–6 hours).
We break for lunch each day, taking around an hour out of the saddle to rest and refuel before heading back out.
Rustic luxury accommodation, think shearing shed, cosy swag and the best night's sleep you've had in years.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Friday, 4 September
Arrive after 3pm and settle in.
From 5–6pm, get to know your horse over nibbles, then gather around the fire for dinner and good company as the excitement builds for the days ahead.
Settle into your "pen" for the night, a luxury swag complete with electric blanket, for a proper night's rest.
Day 2 - Saturday, 5 September
8am — Start with a cooked breakfast by the fire and pack your lunch, then at 9:30 we'll talk safety and do our final ride prep at the round yard before heading out at 10am.
We'll wind our way toward the honeysuckle, pulling up to boil the billy for smoko, before climbing to the top with sweeping views across the Brungle Creek valley, Tumut, Kosciuszko, Batlow and beyond. Lunch is on top of the world, with your horse grazing beside you, before a gentle loop back down to Brooklyn Springs.
Unsaddle and wash your horse, then unwind with a hot shower or hot tub before settling back by the fire with new mates and good food.
Day 3 - Sunday, 6 September
8am - Cooked breakfast and pack your saddlebags for lunch.
9am - Meet at the round yard for another fun day of riding.
Today's all about cattle work.
You'll work as a team as we muster the mob to the laneway, then have the chance to work individually as we guide you to draft cattle out of the mob. You'll learn how to position yourself and your horse to calmly move a cow to where we want it.
We'll pull up for lunch, boil the billy and have a yarn in the laneway while the cattle and horses graze.
After lunch, we'll finish drafting and take the mob we've drafted closer to the yards. Once the cattle are in the paddock, our job is done — we'll head home, unsaddle, wash our horses, and it's time to say your goodbyes. If you're heading home, safe travels! For those staying the extra night, kick back for one more evening by the fire and in the hot tub.
Optional Day 4 - Monday, 7 September
Cooked breakfast, then pack up and check out by 10am. Safe travels home, and thanks for being part of the crew.
